Alkaline and acidic solutions?

You can measure the pH of the solution. This will tell you if it is acidic or basic. If you follow this test with a conductivity test, it should indicate whether the base (or acid) is strong or weak. High conductivity indicates complete dissociation (strong), while low conductivity indicates only partial dissociation. (weak)
